Title: [The World] R:2
Post by: BlazingWyvern on December 30, 2007, 01:38:34 pm
For anyone who's heard anything good about .hack, you'll know it takes place in an online game called [The World]. Now, there has been a fan-based creation of [The World], and it was 2-D. The people behind the game have recently launched [The World] R:2 (Revision 2), sticking to the storyline of .hack, where the original [The World] was destroyed and they had to recreate it. This being said, Bandai-Namco (the creators of .hack) haven't given these people full rights to make this game, but they're still going along with it.
The game is technically in Open Beta Testing, although most of us are currently referring to it as "Pre-Alpha Testing." This game is definitely not ready for a real release, and there are so many bugs it's staggering. The character models are incomplete and not even loaded into the game, the maps allow people to fall off into an inescapable abyss, there are no items or weapons, and only one or two kinds of monsters. Although this might not seem like a great game, the dedication this small team of people has is astounding, and they're working to make this the first MMUOG (Massively Multiplayer Unlimited Online Game) for the players. The graphics are already very well made and not something to criticize, and the intensity of what these people are trying to make is astounding.
The main site for this game is at http://www.cyberconnects.com/ and after clicking on the American Flag, you'll be at the American Site, where you can download the game client. I also advise that you join the forums and meet the community so that you know people before you play, and also so that you can report bugs.
It may seem like I'm putting this game down, but I'm not. I'm advertising a game that has great potential, but is in a very early phase. Think of it as a disclaimer. I'm telling all of you the things to expect so that you don't get your hopes up and then get disappointed. Most of the people working on this game are in college, and there is only one server for people to play on. Despite all of this, [The World] R:2 can, and will, grow into an amazing game.

I'm hoping that some of you consider joining, for there will be a Guild that the KotLT will be creating, and also because of how great the community is. After talking to some of the people there, I was happy to have met some kind individuals before startig to play a game centered around the community itself.
For all of you who do join, I have one thing to say:   "Welcome... to [The World]"

Ok, time for an update!
It seems that over the course of creating this game, they ran into some trouble and had to use the "Torque" engine. After a month or so of re-vamping stuff, they've come up with "The World," no longer [The World] R:2. This time, it's going to be more original, and not fully utilize the class systems of the previous .Hack games. There is no current release date on this at the moment, and I have no idea what the classes are called, but it sounds like there will be a "Trait System" put in place.
I'll be keeping track of this for anyone interested, and of course, when it comes out, I'll secure a Guild within the game (even though there is currently a forum-war targeting a Guild being incredibly... ummm... evil toward other guilds, players, and such. Sounds like fun.).
